Art Evolution is an online gallery offering a fresh, innovative and affordable way to access contemporary art work. The gallery boasts over 600 pieces of art across a range of medium such as photography, painting and sculpture.
Presence were asked to design and develop the front-end and back-end of the website. The emphasis of the brief was to build a website which was easily updateable for Art Evolution and easily navigable and accessible for their clients.
The site was designed in a simplistic neutral manner, thereby making the artwork the focus of the design. The front-end is hand-coded to web standards using strict XHTML and CSS. The site also meets AA level of accessibility.
Specific features of the site include the ability to search through the entire database using several parameters e.g dimensions, type of artwork, keywords, price or medium.
The custom back-end system, developed using PHP and MySQL allows Art Evolution to easily control the content throughout the website. New artists and artworks can easily be added using the web-based CMS. Text content throughout the site is also editable via the CMS.
