Tyne & Wear Travel Plan Builder is a website we've designed and developed for Newcastle City Council. The website allows organisations to build and maintain a Travel Plan online.
The Tyne & Wear Travel Plan Builder is aimed at helping businesses and organisations reduce the impact of transport on the environment, whilst bringing a number of other benefits to an organisation as an employer and also to staff and visitors.
There are several reasons why an organisation will require a Travel Plan :
- It's part of a planning application for a new building
- Because there are too many cars using your car park
- You are concerned about road congestion and air pollution
In practice, the creation and management of a Travel Plan has been a lengthy and laborious procedure involving the submission and review of paper-based forms. With the launch of this website organisations can now create and maintain a Travel Plan strategy in their own time and from any location with an internet connection. The plan is broken down into manageable chunks and progress is saved to a database in incremental stages. A plan can also be reviewed and modified at any stage up until final approval.
Newcastle City Council have access to a Content Management System which provides monitoring of plan submissions, plan approval and locking, live statistical data and plan archiving. The CMS also allows NCC to use the website as a central resource for all dialogue and correspondence related to the development of the Travel Plan, further reducing the administration and support costs.
